Top Ten Tuesday: Character Traits I Love

Top Ten Tuesday: Character Traits I Love

See I’m really bad at planning ahead with my blog posts so I’m kind of going to probably have a hard time coming up with 10 character traits I love, but I’m definitely going to try!

I can’t have a wishy-washy friend in my life. Well character I guess. I want to know that they are going to be loyal to the people in their lives that mean something to them, and that through everything, they are going to be by their sides.

Don’t mistake kindness for weakness though. Being kind to others even when it seems like they don’t deserve it is important to me. I don’t mean being a doormat either. Just not being a bitch for no reason, you know?

Having some sort of sense of humor to alleviate the dark times helps too. Not where it seems like they don’t care about the bad shit going on or that they can’t take it seriously, but knowing when they need to just let loose for a little bit to be the supporting rock for those that seem to be losing it.

Despite Katara’s mean face in this gif, sometimes I like characters that can be motherly in a sense to those that need it. Maybe they don’t have a good parental figure in their lives, but their friends can be there for them in that way. It’s so important and I feel like it’s taken for granted.

When shit hits the fan, I need a character that’s going to tell it like it is, and I need to know that I can trust them to make the best decision possible and not lie to others as much as possible. Sure, sometimes they may need to lie to save someone – you know, dystopians do that a lot apparently and other fantasy genres or whatever – but for the most part, I need to know that what they are saying to me is the truth.

And this doesn’t mean physically all the time. I mostly mean emotionally. Being able to admit that something is wrong but still go on to the best of your ability. That’s really hard, and a character that can do that is definitely strong in my eyes.

Being brave enough to do what you know is right, even though there may be some serious consequences. But in the long run, it will change the world and make it a better place.

I feel like these were really basic unfortunately, but these are the ones that stand out to me. I also didn’t get to 10 again, but hey, at least I tried!
