Goodreads Monday – Black Boy Out of Time by Hari Ziyad

Goodreads Monday – Black Boy Out of Time by Hari Ziyad

My father in law passed away last week. The funeral is next week. Things have been pretty melancholy in the house of course, and it’s hard to not be able to do anything for my husband but just be there. I know he’s trying to be strong, but I hope he knows that it’s okay to be in pain right now, and nobody would fault him for it.

So after this post, I’ll be on another hiatus for a bit until the funeral is over, and we talk about what may need to get done. I couldn’t imagine losing a parent, and I just hurt so much for my husband.

Thanks to Dini @ Dini Panda Reads, I’m adding Goodreads Monday to my weekly meme schedule, and I’m excited to do this one. This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it.

First Line Fridays: 02/11/21

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

[Tag] The Survive or Die Bookish Tag!

OMG I almost forgot that I was tagged in this, and I’m kind of scared. Do I want my favorite characters to die because they aren’t in their original world?

Thank you SO much to Keri @ Are You My Book? For tagging me in this!!! I’m so glad I get to do something like this and I can’t wait to see what I end up coming up with.

**Not ashamed to say I’ve had this in my drafts since 2019 and I’m only doing it now. YOLO.

Rules:

1) Link back to the creator (Sapphire’s @ Simply Sapphire Song).
2) Write down seven (or more!!) characters and seven fictional worlds/ settings. (Most use books, but you can do movies/tv shows!)
3) Choose one random character and one random world.
4) Determine whether that character would survive that world/book.
5) Repeat!
