Kibby @ Something of the Book is absolutely amazing for hosting this weekly meme and writing all the topics down for the rest of the year! Now I can actually be proactive and plan out my posts – well, that’s wishful thinking on my end. I’m pretty sure I said that last Friday Favorites also… oops!
So I was trying to figure out why I felt like I did this one before, and while it was similar (Top 5 Saturday topic was Sequels as well), I didn’t actually say what my favorite sequels were! So this one should be fun. Do I actually read sequels? Do I just refuse to continue on with a series so that it doesn’t freaking end for me? Sounds about right. Well, let’s see how this one goes.
It looks like I re-bought the first book in this series, and I’m kind of regretting not having the rest of them. Where the heck did they go? I think my mom and I donated my books years ago to my local library because we were moving into a smaller location. Then I moved to Guam and yeah, I couldn’t ship any books with me. But I restarted my book collection and brought it with me to Virginia so that’s been fun! I will say that this one was my favorite of the House of Night novels that I read through. The first book had such good promise and to me, I feel like the books kept getting better and better. Plus, Aphrodite started to be a little bit more tolerable, and that’s when I started to love her.
I think I only got this far, but I liked this one a lot more than the first one. I do need to end up finishing the rest of the series. I love how de la Cruz makes these worlds. It also makes me want to read Witches of East End.
This one was my favorite out of the entire series. And this was a series that I actually finished because I didn’t realize that it went by so fast. I may just end up buying all of these books on Book Outlet or ThriftBooks if I can find the whole thing. Heaven really grew into herself and I was so proud of her progress.
Jimena was always my favorite daughter of the moon, and since this one focused on her, it only makes sense that this one was my favorite. Any time I read about a character that wasn’t just the typical blonde hair, blue eyes, white girl that was gorgeous but didn’t know it, I feel like I gravitated towards them. Jimena was Latina like me! And even though she had started off in a gang, she was able to get herself out. She was one of the strongest girls I had ever read about, and I wanted to be like her.
Cinder was amazing, and I definitely feel like Scarlet was just as amazing. I loved hearing about Scarlet and her journey while Cinder was still doing her thing. I need to finish this series though to finally get through it, and hopefully Queen Levana gets her just desserts. That bitch.
I think this one was my favorite out of the seven. I will end up doing a reread of the series just to make sure that this answer still stands but I liked seeing other wizards from different schools! Although… poor Cedric.
I was sad at how this one ended, but this one didn’t completely break my heart like some other ones… Plus, I feel like Rose actually grew up from what happened in the first one to this one. I still need to finish this series too. I need to know if Dimitri comes back from the brink.
I’m honestly surprised that I liked the final book in this series. I don’t like some of what happened – RIP – but I was just so immensely proud of Percy, Annabeth, and everyone by the time it was all over. This was an intense journey for them, and they did such an amazing job. I think I need to do a reread.
Clearly I read a lot more sequels than I realize! I also finished like three series in my lifetime! At least three I mean. I may be wrong. I may have finished more and just don’t realize it. I do need to do a better job at finishing series though. I can’t keep leaving things unfinished because I don’t want it to end, but that is something that I’ve known about myself since I was a little girl. I never wanted the fun to end. I guess this concept applies with these stories.
What are some of your favorite sequels? What are some series that I need to either start or finish (finally) so I can see how it ends? Not just how it ends but the entire journey that they went through? Let me know! I love to hear from you guys.
