OMG! That Song! Book Tag

Still sick and in isolation, but I hope that I can hear some news soon. Maybe over the weekend or on Monday. I also felt really out of it today so I haven’t been able to stay awake super long or eat/drink anything without feeling really sick in the stomach. Not fun at all!

So here’s another tag since I really do need to catch up on a lot of them, and I just haven’t had the energy to write anything other than this so far. Thank you so much to Leah @ Leah’s Books for this tag! I can’t wait to see what my answers are!

I’m not sure who was the original creator for this tag, and I don’t see any rules so far so I’ll leave it blank for now. If anyone knows who created this tag, I’ll appreciate any info you have for me.

…the song…

I will legit never get enough of Anitta’s song “Me Gusta”. I love the beats, I love the lyrics, I love the music video and how colorful it is. I love EVERYTHING about this song and Anitta in general. Plus Cardi B and her dress is freaking AMAZING! It looks so amazing on her.

…the book…

I read this for the first time this year and I could NOT get enough of it! I listened to it recently as well and I just absolutely died with the narration. I’d be listening to it in public and when the steamy scenes came up I was like GET IT STELLAAAAAAAA. GET YOUR MAN STELLAAAAAAA! So clearly, I was a little cray about those scenes and I just loved the relationship that developed between Stella and Michael. I could legit read this one once a month and not get tired.

…the song…

I LOVE THIS SONG! I say this is part of my cringiest part of my life because I remember watching Like Mike OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again and I would watch this video OVER AND OVER again so I could learn the rap. Like… I still remember it so I mean, I’m still cool ya feel.

…the book…

I recently tried to read this earlier in the year, and maybe it was because I was barely paying attention to the audiobook because I just wasn’t intrigued as I was when I first read this story… but I just had to DNF it this year. Which sucks because I did love it a lot when I was younger and that’s why I was so excited for the – movie that didn’t do so well? – and was thinking about watching the TV series but then I just wasn’t for it.

…the song…

Gosh this song just gives me all kinds of feels man. Mostly because I know how hard JoJo fought to get control of her career and her songs and now she’s finally able to write and sing the songs that SHE wants to write, and do the kind of music videos that SHE wants to do. She finally has the freedom to be what she wants to be and bring out what she wants to and I love that she never gave up on herself. I always cry when I hear this song, and even though I don’t have the pipes to hit her high notes, I still try in my house where nobody can hear my trying and failing each time.

***Rest In Peace Naya Rivera***

…the song…

I’m a WHOLE ASS PRETTY MF YA HEARD?

Lol just kidding, but this is my go to theme song when I need to remember who’s a bad bitch, you know what I’m saying fam.

…the book…

This is one of the books this year that I wholeheartedly connected with and it gave me so much feelings. I cried so much during Bre’s journey, and I was so proud of her for everything that she accomplished throughout her life. I’m just in love with her so much and this book makes me want to be amazing like her.

…the song…

Yes, yes I first heard of this song because I somehow came across a video of Jade Chynoweth dancing to this and I was obsessed. I found this music video with my best friend and I became absolutely hooked to the song all on its own. I remember there was a year where I just listened to this on repeat for like months or something. I’m so glad that I was able to find this again because I almost forgot about what this was called and almost did NOT remember how to find this again. But here it is, and I’m officially going to keep listening to this every once in a while and add it to my liked songs on Spotify.

…the book…

Now both of these choices aren’t *weird* or anything like that, but they were something that I didn’t think to experience. BUT once I did? I was wondering what took me so long to do so! The same was with Binti. It’s really a short novel – it’s a trilogy and when you combine them all, its almost a regular length novel – so I don’t know why I didn’t think to read this before, but I finally had the chance when this was a monthly pick for the Itty Bitty Book Committee club through TBR & Beyond. It was so interesting to read and definitely not something that I had read before. I really enjoyed it and I’ll have to read the rest of the trilogy soon.

…the song…

First heard this song from the Netflix zombie series Daybreak, with my bae Colin Ford. (Younger Sam Winchester from Supernatural in case you were curious). No, not the guy in the above gif.

Just listen to it. I think you’ll feel pretty hype when listening to it. I love the beat and how fun it is listening to it. It makes you want to stand up and dance too!

…the book…

This book inspired me from the very beginning. I was so rooting for Tarisai and all of the people that made her family as the book goes along. I loved this book like completely, and honestly I just felt so inspired by Jordan Ifueko and her writing process and her journey into becoming an author. I’m just inspired by her and her novel and just her as a person too!

…the song…

I love this song so freaking much! I wish that there was a music video for this, but either way the way that this song was composed and Se.A’s voice is just so damn beautiful! I love chilling out to this song. It’s not a super slow long all the time, and the beat can be a little upbeat but not enough to make you want to dance like crazy you know? I just really enjoy this story, and the lyrics are beautiful.

…the book…

Definitely this one. I loved this book so much, and I seriously need to read it again. Or better yet, listen to the audiobook and experience the novel that way. I adored this book and I love Pintip Dunn’s writing in every book that I’ve read from her, so I already knew that I was going to love this one from the moment I saw that it was coming into the public. I can’t wait to read more of her novels in the future! This story was just so beautiful all the way around as well, which I’m pretty sure I said that before but I completely adore all of the characters and how the relationships in this book progressed from the beginning to the end. It would be so cool to see if there’s some sort of sequel or book that focuses on another character from this one and it takes place after the events of this one, you know? It doesn’t have to be a full sequel although that would be super cool too! Either way, anything from Pintip Dunn is something I’ll be able to cozy up with on any kind of today.

…the song…

I’m a real ass, rich ass, bitch from da souf!

OMG this is one of my favorite songs to listen to, one of my favorite videos to watch, and it has three of my favorite rappers all together just slaying the game. Saweetie is one of my all time faves especially when I found out that she’s part Filipino because I had no idea she was mixed and it’s cool to see mixed women in the rap game. Mulatto is amazing, and Trina is just the damn queen. I’ve always loved her songs and I was so glad to see her in this one.

…the book…

It’s not *trashy* and it’s not super *light* but I’d consider a series like this something that I’d consider a guilty pleasure. It really helped that the audiobook narrator for our main woman Max just really gave me all those kinds of sassy, bad ass, kick ass type of women vibes and I was all for it. Even her sarcastic self was freaking lit. I love books like that, especially when it’s an indie book because I feel like I have some of the best experiences with indie books like this. There’s a lot of paranormal types of indie books that I would love to explore more. I was so glad to see that my library’s hoopla database had quite a few indie audiobooks to check out!

…the song…

I was just listening to this song last night when I was having some throwback R&B love song jams and ugh I missed this song so much! I remember seeing this song with one of my friends back in high school while he was playing the guitar and we had so much fun! We were able to harmonize some of it too! I never thought I could harmonize with anyone before! It was so much fun, and it brought back a lot of good memories from when I was younger.

…the book…

I remember reading this series when I was younger. I would always borrow this series from the library during the summer or when I wanted to read this again. I adored the story of Heaven, and her relationship developing with her mentor and friend Hiro. It starts off like she’s a normal teenage girl and yet things go so crazy in a manner of a few pages that everything about her life just flips a whole 180. It was crazy, and I was so happy to see her develop from a spoiled rich girl into someone that could learn how to take care of herself and fight to defend herself and Hiro. It was great. I still need to get the other books honestly; I think I only bought the first novel just to see where I could buy it from.

This was fun! Even though it took me like… two days to even get through this post since I just haven’t been able to concentrate writing it. Hopefully I can also get through this week feeling better somehow. I have a headache again now, and my chest is hurting. I guess I’ve been due for a migraine and now it’s happening as I write this. We’ll see how much I’m able to rest somehow.

Until then, see you soon.
