“My love will never leave you. We will always be best friends.”

Not gonna lie, this first line really had me tear up a bit. I love friends that aren’t afraid to tell each other how much they love them. Nothing is wrong with showing love for your friends, or saying “I love you” or something along those lines.

But anyway, I had not heard from this author before but I really enjoyed this novel from Sasaki. I think my favorite part about this fantasy/paranormal novel was the friendship and partnership between Hailey and Grace. I know that Hailey’s main goal is to find her boyfriend and somehow find her boyfriend that ended up turning into one of those creatures that has taken over the world, but at least she isn’t alone trying to do something that seems almost impossible.

And while Hailey and Grace were considered “old best friends” in the synopsis, there’s something about their relationship in this novel that made me feel like Hailey didn’t really lose everyone like she initially thought. Maybe Grace was always there even if she didn’t remember it.

Also, did you catch that this was a pandemic???

Kind of like what’s going on in the world right now?!

Talk about when books start to show aspects of the real life world.
