Sunday Post – October 20, 2019

Yay for another Sunday post! I’m honestly so glad that it’s Sunday, and I’m seriously needing a huge break from work, but this coming week is the last week that my coworker is going to be here and I don’t feel right taking time off when we need to transition for her leaving. Hopefully I can take a day off or something in November or something.

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news about the past week, reading recaps, new hauls, and more.

Yeah, yeah, yeah I’m still working on my backlisted ARCs, okay? I’m also getting really close to finishing the library books that I’ve apparently been hoarding so once I get through those, I’ll work on more backlisted ARCs and the books I actually own. Maybe not this year, but 2020 for sure!

  • Valley Girls – Sarah Nicole Lemon
  • Book of Souls – Nadine Nightingale
  • Blood Will Out – Jo Treggiari
  • Feminism from A to Z – Gayle E Pittman
  • Fat Girl on a Plane – Kelly deVos
  • Hallowed Ground – Paul Twivy
  • The Unadjusteds – Marisa Noelle
  • To Kill a Curse – Jennifer Jenkins
  • Angel Mage – Garth Nix
  • Beyond the Black Door – A.M. Strickland

So the double blog tour posts actually worked, and I’m so glad to hear that it did! Thanks again to Nicole @ Bookwyrm Knits for the amazing idea! It was all her idea, so definitely thank her for this solution. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise. I don’t think I’m doing other double blog tours – even on accident – so I don’t think I’ll have to worry about it again. But if I do, it’s going to be the same format since I think it worked out so well!

I’m going to pick the post that I did for one of my favorite people in the entire world – Dini. I got to do a little interview with her, and I did this month’s Book Lover Spotlight on her because she is so amazing, and I think more people should get to know her and love her.

If you haven’t met her yet, you need to check out this review, and then go to her page and check out the rest of her blog because I love her content so much!

For a broke bitch, I need to stop buying books. But shhhh, don’t tell anyone that more and more books keep coming to the house because oops.

Yes, yes, there is only one book on this list because I’m purposely trying to slow down in borrowing books, or at least too many books at once. Thank goodness a lot of my holds already came through and I already returned a lot of the books that I knew I wasn’t in the mood for anymore, with pictures of them for the next time I’m ready to check them out and actually read them. This one, I tried to listen to but I kept falling asleep during the first chapter, so I borrowed the eBook. I can maybe get through a chapter before I fall asleep, so I thought maybe I could get the physical copy and see if that works. But I think that the eBook is working okay for now. I’m not in a rush really, so I’m going to debate on whether I should stick with the eBook or try the physical book. I’m kind of not into the mass paperback copies, but I can’t be picky.

Wow, sorry that was long.

Yeah, yeah I know I already read The Athena Protocol for a blog tour, but I’m telling you, if I love a blog tour book enough, I’m going to keep it. So that’s the case with The Athena Protocol, and I can’t wait to read it again! It was so good. Also, I honestly don’t remember if I previously bought The Shadowglass so I got it anyway, but if this is my second copy, then I’ll give it away as a gift or something. Wouldn’t want it to go to waste, you know? Plus I love Rin Chupeco, and someone needs to read this book with me and enjoy Tea’s journey.

So… I don’t know if I have any personal updates to report this week, which totally sucks because I’m trying to have a life outside of work and reading, but alas. I don’t think anything really happened.

Well, maybe I’m wrong. I took my dogs to the dog park last week? I think I just forgot to mention it. Oh, and I also took my baby girl to work with me on Friday when everyone was pretty much gone at the Annual Golf Tournament and I stayed at work to man the home front. It was great! Let me see if I could find some photos.

I love my babies so much! Ugh, they are so cute. Okay I’ll have to take more pictures when I can because they are the cutest.

Also I feel like I need to get some ramen, but I forgot that my favorite ramen place is closed on Sundays if I remember correctly. Plus, it’s raining and while I really don’t want to leave the house, I still need to gas my car before work on Monday so I’ll have to leave eventually. Ugh.

Yep, they are closed on Sundays. Freaking crap.

Oh my gosh, so somehow I got Mark to watch Single Parents with me, and I think we are almost done with the first season. It is sooooooooo good, and it makes me laugh so much. It’s on Hulu if you guys have that. Definitely check it out.

BLAIR! The main reason I tried out this show.

I also restarted Elementary because I just needed to go back to the beginning before I finish the series since it actually ends. I’m so bummed, but I think it’s better that it actually has an ending than just gets canceled. I’m so glad that Lucy Liu was in such a long TV show because she so deserves it. She needs way more credit and love, man. And I need to watch the new show that’s supposed to be in, and hopefully she gets all the screen time because she’s one of my all time favorite actresses in the world.

Oh my goshhhhhhhh. Becky G’s first full length album finally came out on Spotify and I can’t freaking believe that it’s finally hear! It’s so freaking good, my gosh. I’ve been waiting for this forever because I freaking love all of her music!

Seriously go listen to this.

Hmm. I guess, this week was kind of difficult for me to talk about, not sure why though. Nothing terribly bad happened or anything, but I feel like I’m kind of at a standstill with how sick I am. It sucks honestly, but I think I’m slowly going to get better when 2020 hits or something. Until then, I’m going to rest my head because it hurts so badly, slowly write up my review for the book I just finished today, go gas my car, and then eat something that won’t make me sick.

Tootles, fam.
