Goodreads Monday | The Name-Bearer by Natalia Hernandez

Thanks to Dini @ Dini Panda Reads, I’m adding Goodreads Monday to my weekly meme schedule, and I’m excited to do this one. This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it.

The Name-Bearer

by Natalia Hernandez
Series: Flowers of Prophecy #1
Length: 290 pages
Publisher: Natalia Hernandez
Release Date: October 11, 2022
Genre: YA Fantasy

For her entire life, the Name-Bearer’s sole purpose has been to receive and deliver the names of the future monarchy from the Flowers of Prophecy. But when the child is finally born and the Name-Bearer is sent to the Flowers, they refuse to name him. Instead they deliver a prophecy; another child was born who is more worthy of the Naming, and if they are found and brought before them it will usher in a reign of peace.

I’m definitely enjoying this damn cover, how about you?

It’s just so beautiful, and I can’t get over it. I also was shocked to see that this was self-published, and I think that’s a bit of a bias in me to think that traditionally published novels are supposed to be “better”, when I have been proven time and again that this is not always the case. Maybe it was because of the cover? It looks like something an actual publisher would kick out money for, when a lot of the self-published novels seem to have… similar ones. I don’t know, I know I’m just talking shit about this right now.

But anyway, I really like the premise of this book, and I wish there was more that I could find about this without reading reviews and getting an opinion about it before I start reading it. I personally don’t like having a preconceived notion about a book before I read it because then I feel like I end up getting swayed one way or another. I just want to be able to go into it blind and… You know what I mean!

I’m pretty sure that I found this book when I was browsing at my favorite bookstore, and I did pick it up. I just haven’t read it yet… as usual. Don’t @ me.

Did you know that there’s a sequel and I think a prequel to this series? The sequel is supposed to be coming out in May, but right now I’m only seeing a kindle version. I’m going to need a physical version soon, or if someone wants to do an audiobook version so I can listen to it during my existence, that would be so cool! But I know how things are when you self-publish. Doing that is expensive as shit.

I can’t wait to eventually read this, what about you? Let’s talk!

See you soon, friends.
