Thanks to Dini @ Dini Panda Reads, I’m adding Goodreads Monday to my weekly meme schedule, and I’m excited to do this one. This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it.

Six Crimson Cranes
by Elizabeth Lim
Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers
Release Date: July 6, 2021
Genre: YA Fantasy / Retelling

Shiori, the only princess of Kiata, has a secret. Forbidden magic runs through her veins. Normally she conceals it well, but on the morning of her betrothal ceremony, Shiori loses control. At first, her mistake seems like a stroke of luck, forestalling the wedding she never wanted, but it also catches the attention of Raikama, her stepmother.
Raikama has dark magic of her own, and she banishes the young princess, turning her brothers into cranes, and warning Shiori that she must speak of it to no one: for with every word that escapes her lips, one of her brothers will die.
Penniless, voiceless, and alone, Shiori searches for her brothers, and, on her journey, uncovers a conspiracy to overtake the throne—a conspiracy more twisted and deceitful, more cunning and complex, than even Raikama’s betrayal. Only Shiori can set the kingdom to rights, but to do so she must place her trust in the very boy she fought so hard not to marry. And she must embrace the magic she’s been taught all her life to contain—no matter what it costs her.

Well first of all, Elizabeth Lim is writing it so of course I want to read it.
Spin the Dawn was such an amazing book and I loved her writing from the very first chapter. I’m so glad that this is going to be another duology and I can’t wait to be able to read all of her novels, both present and future. Ever since I saw this book announced on the internet, I was sold. That cover is flawless, that plot is freaking so exciting, and the author is amazing.
I’m so excited to see some of the early reviews that should be coming out fairly soon, especially from the reviewers that I know would give it the justice it deserves. I can’t wait to see the fantasy aspects in this world, and even though I didn’t see it in the synopsis, someone mentioned something about… dragons? Is that true or not? I hope it is! I’m a dragon fiend.

Well the person who did mention it is someone I find very trustworthy and take their reviews very seriously so I’m gonna trust the fact that there’s a dragon in the duology somewhere.

I can’t believe this is coming in like two months?! I remember looking at this book thinking that it wasn’t going to come out soon enough, and before I knew it, it’s almost here! Who else is excited to read this one?

Yeeessss it looks amaaaazing! I can’t wait 😍
