Top Ten Tuesday – My Reread List

Top Ten Tuesday – My Reread List

I’ve been gone for a couple of days, and I think that break was needed. How has everyone been over the weekend? For those that celebrated a holiday or spent time with loved ones, I hope that it went well and that you were able to enjoy that kind of time and company. My Thanksgiving day was spent eating some ham that my husband made, and the weekend was spent doing a marathon of the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions! Such a great trilogy.

I think I need to do another weekend marathon of The Hobbit Extended Editions… since I haven’t finished those movies yet!

So for this prompt, we are talking about books that I would love to reread. Now, it could be either books that I am going to reread sometime in the future OR books that I wish I could reread as if it’s the first time I ever read it. So I think I’ll do a mix of the two and see what I end up with!

Plan to Reread: The Silence of Bones by June Hur

Not only do I wish that I could read this as if it’s the first time ever, but I really can’t wait to also listen to the audiobook and experience this story all over again. I absolutely adore June Hur’s writing and not only do I want to reread this in preparation of Hur’s sophomore novel, but I am just really wanting to go back into this book again. Hmm, maybe I’ll get to read this before the end of the year!

Like It’s the First Time: Legendborn by Tracy Deonn

I don’t know if I could ever get over this novel, and I really don’t want to! I don’t know how it’s going to be when I reread it, but it would be so amazing to feel that kind of magic that I felt the very first time I got to read this novel. Gosh, I just absolutely adore the story that Tracy created, and I just really love Bree and everything that she’s going through in this novel. I seriously can’t wait for the sequel! I know it’s going to be just as amazing!

Plan to Reread: Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga

This just so happens to be the December book club pick for Malala’s Literati Book Club! Listening to the audiobook a couple of months ago was such a beautiful experience, and I know that I still have to do a review, so I think this reread will be perfect to remind me of what I felt while I was reading this. It was such a wonderful story, and I really hope that more people get to experience the kinds of emotions that I felt listening to Jude’s life in the US.

Like It’s the First Time: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

Oh my gosh! This is one of my absolutely favorite contemporary romance novels ever! This really just made me feel all kinds of romantic things and I was just so freaking happy with the relationship between Stella and Michael! Plus, knowing that this ends up being a Happily Ever After kind of ending, being able to see that kind of relationship blossom and see how they are able to learn more about each other is just absolutely amazing!

Plan to Reread: The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

I forget how many times I’ve reread this book, but I get the opportunity to read this again with another buddy that just so happens to be a new pen pal! I’m curious to see what she ends up thinking about it, since this happens to be one of my favorite books. I still really need to finish the trilogy… and maybe that should be one of my goals for 2021! We’ll see if we end up reading the rest of the trilogy together or pick another book.

Like It’s the First Time: Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen

No matter how many times I reread this, I wish that I could feel like it was the very first time! This was one of the books this year that I really related to, and honestly I wish that I was able to go back to the end of high school and experience a similar kind of cultural immersion summer trip where I actually get to travel. I would absolutely LOVE to do that in Japan!

Plan to Reread: Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev

This was one of my absolute favorite Pride & Prejudice retellings, and it actually made me like the story that much more. I don’t know if anyone knows or remembers, but I absolutely CANNOT read Classics. I just can’t seem to get into them at all. But retellings, I seem to do better with. I highly recommend this one because of the story behind the Raje Family and their history of royalty, as well as the current plot between Dr. Trisha Raje and DJ Caine. This just made me so happy going through it.

Like It’s the First Time: Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

If you are able to listen to audiobooks, I highly, highly recommend listening to this novel rather than reading it. The narration was so emotional and moving. You could feel the hurt, the pain, the anger, the grief. You could feel all of that as you listen to Yahaira and Camino trying to understand what they lost and what they may have gained after a traumatic event. This was just so beautiful and I’d love to feel like it’s the first time reading again.

Plan to Reread: Night of the Dragon by Julie Kagawa

I recently went through my mini review for the sequel in this trilogy and it really makes me want to do a reread of this finale. It was pretty AMAZING and I absolutely adore Julie Kagawa and her writing. This is also one of my favorite series from her so of course I need to do a reread for this!

Like It’s the First Time: The Library of Lost Things by Laura Taylor Namey

Oh my GOSH! I totally wish that I could read this like it was the first time. I really want to be able to meet Marisol again because she was one of the absolute best things in this novel! Well she’s not a THING but she was the best PERSON, best PART, best EVERYTHING about this novel and I think everyone needs a Marisol in their life! I just felt like this story was so beautiful and I’d love to experience that again.

Oh buddy this was such an interesting prompt! I usually don’t reread, but I notice that I have been rereading certain books especially this year. It’s pretty nice to go back to books that I really enjoyed and see if my current mindset changes the way that I initially felt about the book. Or what other things I can find from the second time around that I may not have considered the first time around.

What about you? Are you a rereader? And when you do, are there ever any books that you wish you could read it like it was the very first time? Let’s talk!

  1. Sooo many good books on this list! I have loads of these on my TBR but the ones I’ve read I’ve loved… especially Night of the Dragon but not sure I’m emotionally prepared to read it again ☺️

  3. It’s so funny: I don’t usually reread a lot of books either, but this year I’ve been approaching old favorites more and more. I think it’s comfort though among all this chaos. And you have so many great books to reread! I’d really like to check out The Bone Witch again.
