Sunday Post – February 23, 2020

Omg yay for another week down! Can you believe that February is almost freaking over? We have one more week to go, and then we are in March. I can’t freaking believe it, fam. I say it all the time, but this year has been going by so fast. I don’t get it. But here we are with another Sunday post and yay I’m glad I’m here.

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news about the past week, reading recaps, new hauls, and more.

I swear, I need to seriously stop, but I can’t help it! I love having people read my opinion on books because I like feeling that important. Just kidding, but no I love the opportunity to read books and tell my thoughts on it so I can hopefully get people to find something new to read and end up loving it as much as I did, or hearing about something that while may not be my cup of tea, may end up being someone else’s. I love that about the book community. Even though I can’t love every single book, I can still find something to like about almost every book I read, and I like that there’s still someone that can find my review helpful to them.

And that’s really one of the main goals for me, besides having fun doing what I love to do, which I continue to do every single day I log on here to write a blog post.

So yeah, even though I still have a bunch of ARCs that I still need to read and I seem to not be able to stop requesting them on the side – meaning besides the ARCs I get approved for on blog tours and stuff – I’m still having the time of my freaking life doing this.

  • The Life Below – Alexandra Monir
  • Foul is Fair – Hannah Capin
  • Wicked As You Wish – Rin Chupeco
  • The Opposite of Falling Apart – Micah Good
  • Cepharael’s Hand – Melissa McPhail

They just keep coming and coming and coming. Did I not learn from last month? Or even last year? Probably not.

Okay now that I’m back to doing this consistently, I can keep track of what I’ve been getting and receiving from publishers and authors and all that fun stuff. Yay!

Yes, I borrowed this again because I’m supposed to read this for Coffee Break Book Club, but honestly I don’t know if I’ll get to it with all the other books that I have borrowed and haven’t read yet. Do you know how much I love the library though? I swear it’s one of my favorite places in the entire world and I could just stay there forever. I need my library to get new books though because it’s lacking a little bit.

But I think I’ve decided that some of the books that I ended up buying because I couldn’t find it at the library, after I’m done reading it and if I end up writing my thoughts down for it, I’ll donate them. So others can read them and enjoy them too. Unless I really want to keep it because I want to be able to reference it for something. Not sure if that will happen too often, but there are books that I absolutely want to keep.

I freaking loved this book! Holy crap, I was so excited when I got the news that I was approved for this blog tour, and I knew that I was going to buy this novel once it came out into the world. And here it finally is! I can’t wait to reread it and hopefully get to read the sequel as well! Another new favorite author to add to my list!

I’m so freaking honored to be able to receive these review copies! Definitely adds a lot more to my ever growing list, but I also appreciate all the authors and publishers for being patient with me as I get through my reviews. I hope they will not be disappointed!

I made a weekly goals checklist of what I wanted to accomplish for this past week, and I was able to accomplish everything with the exception of one thing! And the only reason why I wasn’t able to accomplish that one thing was because it got canceled due to the weather. I was super proud of myself, especially because I stayed disciplined enough to make sure I studied additional resources for chemistry this week and I think I’m understanding it a lot better than before. I know I have a lot of work to do chemistry wise, and I have a quiz in class next week during lab so I need to make sure I do well for that.

But anyway yes, I’m super proud of myself for sticking to my weekly and daily checklist. It makes me feel super accomplished and productive. Now I just need to make sure that I schedule some time for me, and not just reading. Reading is good always, but sometimes I get a headache and then my eyes start feeling really bad and I just need to shut down for a bit.

Oh yeah did I tell you guys it snowed? That’s why my meeting – the main thing I wanted to do last week – was cancelled.

Still on my cocktail of medicines to keep me going. Still having a hard time sleeping with those medications – which sucks because I feel like I’m getting addicted to them and not in a good way. I think one time when I tried to sleep without it, I felt like I was awake the entire time. I don’t even remember what time I ended up falling asleep, or even how long I was actually asleep. It felt like minutes. I kept tossing and turning and looking at the clock because no matter how much I was closing my eyes and trying to shut down my brain, it just wasn’t working. I’m hoping that I can get another kind of medicine that will help me sleep, but not make me dependent on it to sleep. I’ll have to talk with my doctor about it later, but we will see.

I feel like I haven’t really been paying attention to the music that I’ve been listening to, and it kind of sucks because I thrive on listening to really good music. I feel like not only am I a mood reader, but I need music that matches my mood too. Especially when I’m at work and I need to concentrate or when I need to just zone out from the background noise in the office. I can’t wait for my new speakers to come in at work though, because I’m tired of all the wires that I have. I ended up buying a wireless keyboard and mouse combo so I could get rid of some of the wires. Now with the wireless speakers, that should get rid of some more too.

But that was a super long tangent when I was supposed to share my playlist of the week. My bad.

I listen to this when I need a break from chemistry and it helps so much. It is definitely a study break kind of playlist, so its name is perfect.

As I’m writing this, I found that I finally took a break from straight studying this week and sat down in front of the TV to watch something. I didn’t realize that I was taking away that down time from me until I thought about when was the last time I watched something.

Watched a little bit of Teen Wolf again, and you may have seen some of my live tweets about it. Sorry about that, fam. I guess I was just really, really trying to figure out some things. It was a good rewatch though, and I’m pretty sure I’m almost done with season 2.

Clearly that wasn’t much from this week, but I still made through a couple more episodes.

Then I was feeling like some Van Helsing, and my favorite Van Helsing rendition is the one with Hugo Jackman. Thank gosh it’s on HBO’s Channel on Amazon Prime because I really needed to rewatch it.

Okay seriously am I just coming into my sexual awakening or am I just finally admitting it lol.

Anyway, the main reason why I love this version was because of Kate Beckinsale, and then Dracula’s wives! Seriously their outfits, their badass-ness, everything.

Ugh I just love this movie. I wish I could find my DVD.

I need to go to sleep soon. Even though I took a nap after I had lunch, which was after my class and all that. Usually I take a nap right after class and I get home, but I wanted to get some sushi, which was so good. But I need to stop doing the all you can eat sushi because then I’m tempted to get my money’s worth and eat as much as I can. Well, I mean I totally did but then I get so full and sick and it’s just not fun. It tastes super good, but the aftermath is just… oh man still worth it.

    1. Ahhhh thank you!!! I was just stuck in traffic right by my house so I came to a stop and was like “I gotta take this picture” lol. It was pretty much gone this week but it was cool to see it and have my dogs experience snow again for the second time in their life.

Thank you ❤ I'm super glad that I stayed motivated enough to get through my checklist.

  1. Wahaha I haven’t touched my ARCs at all except for blog tours this month 😅I totally feel you on the mood music because I’m so the same. I haven’t been able to settle on any music lately because I just don’t know what my mood is (or it has been blah). You’ve accomplished a lot this week though and I hope you have a great week ahead 🙂

    1. I feel like when I think about actually not signing up for blog tours so I can focus on my ARCs, I get all weird about it like “but… but blog tours.” hahaah. It’s such a weird thing. I know I was trying to read one backlisted arc a week and I somehow stopped that train, so I guess it wasn’t working.

I may have to take a picture of all my library books that I borrowed again, and return them all until I’m ready to actually read them. I’ve said that before, and then I never ended up reborrowing them or reading them if I did. I’m terrible, omg.

It’s so hard to settle on music lately for me too! I keep switching from like Korean, to Latinx, to Study Vibes, etc. I just can’t seem to pick one for the whole day because then I start to get tired and doze off.

I hope you have a great week too. Miss you tons!
