Today’s prompt is hosted by Alana @ Dream Come Review!
Thrillers, mystery or suspense novels that feature all too real monsters OR Mysteries and thrillers that made you double check the locks, leave the light on, and made you lose sleep.
Well this is ironic since I woke up with a freaking terrible nightmare at 3am this morning and couldn’t sleep before and afterward. I’m a little groggy today. More like, a lot groggy.

Yeah some of the scenes in here kind of freaked me out. I kept looking at my dark hallway like, please don’t have a ghost or something staring at me right now because I won’t be able to handle that. Very, very visual and freaky. Loved it.
Yeah….. this one scared me too. I purposely could not read this at night because I knew I was going to give myself nightmares. Plus the whole toxic relationship thing was pretty scary too, because it brought back memories.
Yeah…. different types of monsters and then how cruel the black market world could be. Sometimes I would forget that Nita actually was sold to people that wanted to use her body parts to get money and… yeah. Human trafficking is not cool and the fact that its a real life problem – maybe not to that extent but in other ways – is pretty horrifying.
The supernatural elements in this book freaked me out hard core. Like, I wasn’t anticipating that this book was going to get real like that. You know?
The content for this book was really scary honestly. Like, wow. This book really messed with my head and I’m honestly so surprised that I was able to get through it.
Anna and her background story was just sad, but also freaky and that’s why this kind of kept me up at night.
Yeah this book hard core messed me up too. That ending, I wasn’t expecting it even though there may have been clues that lead up to it. I think I was just too wrapped up in what was happening in the present and the whole exorcism part that I didn’t realize what the clues were trying to tell me.

Hopefully I’ll be able to rest today. It doesn’t seem like today is going to be super crazy so I’ll be able to at least close my eyes for a couple seconds. This prompt was fun! I can’t believe October is almost over though.
House of Salt and Sorrows was definitely very creepy at times! Still such a fantastic book. Great post!

I really-really love Not Even Bones (+ its sequel) so I’m happy to see you mention it – especially because it definitely deserves more hype, and I overall feel that the publisher failed it with too little promo. I mean, many people want dark, morally gray characters, and yet this flew more or less under the radar. I read The Merciless years ago and I really enjoyed it – the ending was twisted and surprising, and the book itself was gorier than I expected. Great post!
