TBR Lows & Highs 002

TBR Lows & Highs 002

How is it already ONE MORE DAY until my birthday? I’m seriously freaking out right now. I haven’t been excited about my birthday in a long time, and I’m not even doing anything special for it this year! I think I just can’t believe I’m already going to be another year older! I wasn’t expecting it.

Don’t forget to check out Howling Libraries’ original post about TBR Lows & Highs, and let me know if you end up joining this meme! Let’s get the party started, shall we?

  1. Pretty Little Liars – Sara Shepard
I know the books are supposed to be totally different from the TV show, but if I’m still trying to get through the TV show after it ended a couple years ago (I don’t even remember), then I don’t see myself getting into this book for many, many years. Plus if it’s like The Vampire Diaries, the show may already ruin the books for me, and that’s not fair to the original content. – A
  2. This Doesn’t Happen in the Movies – Renee Pawlish
I may be in luck to listen to this in the future, but it won’t be the near future. I remember getting this on my Kindle back in 2015 because I think there was a sale, but I noticed that I avoid my Kindle when I can help it because it gives me a major migraine. I wish that didn’t happen because there are SO many books on there that I wanted to read.
  3. Gossip Girl: The Manga, Vol. 1 – Cecily von Ziegesar
I remember starting the Gossip Girl books before they became an awesome TV show, so when I came across the Manga version, I though I’d want to check it out. But I don’t think I’ve ever found a physical copy for me to borrow in my years of looking for it (maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough). Xoxo, Gossip girl.
  4. Blood Orchids – Toby Neal
You’d think I’d want to read this even more so because it takes place in Hawaii! But… I guess not so much. That’s what appealed to me when I first came across it on Kindle, but I’m still not that sold on mysteries… yet. But looking, it seems like there’s an audiobook version, so maybe in a couple years I’ll listen to it if I can find it.
  5. Elizabeth’s Heart – M. L. Gardner
I remember reading the first book of this series when I first started my book blog. That was the very first book I wrote a review for, so I feel a certain type of way about this series. I just don’t know if I’ll ever get back to it on time. But this one also has an audiobook version, so you never know.

  1. How Not to Die Alone – Richard Roper
I mean I keep hearing so much about this book, so why not add it to my list? Plus the cover really got me, and I’d love to learn how not to die alone eventually. I’ve seen nothing but positive reviews from what I’ve seen so far, so it must be pretty good. I’ll take that chance.
  2. Butterfly Swords – Jeannie Lin
I am not a legit romance novel/erotica type of person, I’ll be honest with that. But I read a review from Sara at Year of Reading Dangerously and it made me want to see what I thought of it. Plus I really like how she broke down her review.
  3. Sorcerer to the Crown – Zen Cho
I also saw this book on someone’s list – I’m spacing on who it was so if it was you, let me know! – and the dragon on the cover really got me. Plus magic in Britain? I mean of course that makes sense, right?
  4. Treading Waves – S. R. Atkinson
This one I’m actually already reading since I got approved to read an ARC by Netgalley, and even though this is the third book in the series, I wanted to make sure that I read it before it gets published on June 16th. So far, so good. I mean anything with some sort of mermaids involved is what I gravitate to.
  5. Beauty Queens – Libba Bray
The cover made me wonder why does a blonde beach beauty need a bunch of lipsticks that looks like rounds? Like is there a war going on? And when I read that other book bloggers actually enjoyed it because it turned typical stereotypes on their head, I knew I had to find out.

So that’s what I have this week! Have you read any of these books, or taken any off your list? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time!

  1. That’s awesome that you want to read “Butterfly Swords!” I’m glad you enjoyed my review – thank you for the nod!

  2. Oooh, I love this tag! This is such a great way to evaluate your TBR. I also have the PLL series pretty low on my list, which makes little sense considering I just bought the first 8 books a coupe of months ago…. but for some reason I can’t get myself to pick them up! I’m so excited for you to read Beauty Queens! Knowing your tastes, I think you’ll like it!

    1. I totally missed this response! I swear I have to go through each post while I’m still new to make sure that I respond to everyone ❤ If you start doing this one, let me know! I really like it. And I just picked up Beauty Queens from the library so I'll let you know soon! Girl I just stick with the show to get my PLL fix until I finish it or want to absolutely subject myself to the original source material lol.

      1. That’s OK, I miss responses sometimes, too! Or just take days to respond 😅 I actually do these posts called “Down the TBR Hole” which is very similar to this, so I probably won’t do this one just because I’m already doing one so similar. I like the tag though! And same! I actually just rewatched PLL a few months back. Have you watched any of the spin off series?
