Thank you again to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words for hosting this weekly meme. I’m pretty sure you all know the drill by now, but in case you don’t and you want to join, here are the three questions we always answer:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you will read next?

- A Reaper at the Gates – Sabaa Tahir***
- Sorcery of Thorns – Margaret Rogerson
I wouldn’t say that I’m in a bit of a reading slump right now, but I did finish three books today alone – not all started today, only one of them was started today – and I think my brain needs a bit of a break. I also have to make sure I write the reviews that I have the bandwidth to write. There was another book that I ended up finishing, which you’ll see in the next session, that I can’t even talk about because of the SMP boycott, but I’m thinking that I will need to write my reviews for them and have them ready and waiting for the boycott to end. Honestly, I haven’t even checked to see how many books I read this year that were from SMP, but I did make sure not to talk about them on any socials. Be sure to check out Readers for Accountability here.

- Pachinko – Min Jin Lee
- Two Twisted Crowns – Rachel Gillig
- The Lost Bookshop – Evie Woods
- Almost Surely Dead – Amina Akhtar
- One Little Secret – Cate Holahan
Wildblood – Lauren Blackwood- Canadian Boyfriend – Jenny Holiday
- The Okay Witch – Emma Steinkellner

Like I said, I don’t know how I was able to get through all these books in the span of a week, but I’m proud of myself for it. And only one of these books was a graphic novel! I’m indicating books that are published by SMP with a strikethrough, to call attention to it. A strikethrough doesn’t mean anything negative towards the book or the author, but to the boycott. In actuality, I really shouldn’t be posting about the books at all, so I may end up changing it to just say [REDACTED] so that there’s no publicity on these books. I’m glad I was able to still read it and I hope to share my thoughts in the future, but until then I won’t.

- Fake Dates and Mooncakes – Sher Lee
- Black Girls Must Have it All – Jayne Allen
- No Filter and Other Lies – Crystal Maldonado
- Love, Decoded – Jennifer Yen
- Breasts and Eggs – Mieko Kawakami
I added a new book to this list because I pulled it out of my TBR Jar for Week 3. How is it already going to be Week 3 in March?! Absolutely ridiculous. Time is going by way too quickly and I just need it to slow down just a little bit so I can figure out how to get me and my dogs to Hawaii safely and timely. Phew. Lots of things to think about I guess.

I had a question for y’all. How closely do you pay attention to the publishers of the books you’re reading? Have you found that you favor books from one publisher over another? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Until next time!

I’m new to this. So I’ve been completely unaware of the SMP boycott, but I will be checking my TBR now! Thank you for the information.
I tend to not pay attention to who the publisher is, I’ve really only noticed lately as I’ve been requesting ARCs. I’ve noticed Berkley’s name popping up a lot whenever I’m interested in requesting a book. Think I’ll be adding a column for publishers to my book log now 🙂

Yes, definitely check out the boycott and see what it’s about. It’s been on for over 100 days now, and still no response from SMP. It’s a shame. I truly hope they see why this boycott is so important.
Berkley’s is a good one! So it seems like you favor them a bit ❤ That’s a good publisher to favor; they have some great novels. It’s just interesting to see the numbers when you take the time to track them, and then you can see what it is about those books that appeal to you.
