Top Ten Tuesday | Weird or Funny Things I’ve Googled Thanks to a Book

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Hey mersquad. I hope everyone is doing well this week. I’ve been getting into the swing of things for my new position that I’ll be doing when I get to Hawaii, and I’ve been working on getting ready to move as well. It’s been interesting, stressful, and just lonely at times. I have the dogs and I since I can’t leave until they get on the plane, and I’m just hoping and praying that everything goes smoothly with their journey.

Outside of the personal stuff, I’m here to try this week’s prompt for Top Ten Tuesdays. I almost didn’t do it because I really couldn’t think about what I have googled thanks to a book, but I think the longer I sit on it, the more I am able to think about some stuff. So let’s see what I end up coming up with. I probably won’t remember which books made me think of which things to google, but I’ll try my best.

I think for this prompt, it’s going to be a rapid fire list, so enjoy.

  1. How do I get a book boyfriend to come to life?
  2. More books with black mermaids, any books with Asian mermaids?
  3. Where have I heard this narrator before?
  4. Did I review this one already?
  5. What’s the next book by this author and when does it come out?
  6. Who is the publisher of this book?
  7. Are they accepting reviewers?
  8. Who does this main character remind me of?
  9. What does this mean (if it’s in another language)?
  10. What are other people saying about this book?

Some of these may be pretty silly, but I do see myself taking a mini break from reading – or going on Google while I’m listening to something – to satisfy whatever is in my mind at the time. Have I found the answer for all of these things? I do eventually, but I also notice that if I don’t find it immediately, my reading gets derailed for maybe an hour until I do.

So what are some of the things that you’ve googled thanks to a book? Let’s talk about it here!
