Thank you again to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words for hosting this weekly meme. I’m pretty sure you all know the drill by now, but in case you don’t and you want to join, here are the three questions we always answer:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you will read next?

- All I’ve Wanted All I’ve Needed – A. E. Valdez
- Her Royal Spyness – Rhys Bowen
- Fall of Ruin and Wrath – Jennifer L. Armentrout
So… I don’t know what the heck I’m listening to with Fall of Ruin and Wrath. I’m so confused as to what is actually going on. Granted, I am listening to it at 1.75x speed, but even if I wasn’t… I don’t know. I must not be a true smut fan or something lol. It’s okay though. Let’s see if it gets a bit better. I’m goint to add another book to my current reading list sometime soon, since I’m feeling a bit underwhelmed with what I’m reading right now. Her Royal Spyness is okay but it’s mostly just a low stakes read for me. Which is fine, because I did have a historical mystery phase that I was going through and I still love the genre, but it’s not something that I’m like OMG YES I NEED IT while I’m reading. I will say that I’m liking Her Royal Spyness a lot more than the other one. I know, totally unpopular opinion but that’s where I’m at today.

- Ink Blood Sister Scribe – Emma Törzs
- Not the Witch You Wed – April Asher
- Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy – Rey Terciero
- The Poppy War – R. F. Kuang
- Mixed Signals – B. K. Borison

I’m surprised that I was able to get through all of these within the week. I feel like I’m trying to build up momentum again since I’m trying to not get slimed at my library’s Winter Reading Challenge. Whoever reads the least gets slimed by the one that reads the most. I’m also not trying to include any of the children’s books that I get to read/listen to during the Storytimes that I help out with. This is a moment where I wish that I was working at that one job that let me zone out on audiobooks all darn day. Then I could try to hit that 1 book a day goal that one of my coworkers has. I did do 1 book a day when I worked there. It was the most I ever read in one month in my life.
That was the dream right there. Or I could somehow figure out what job I could do that could allow me to do that again but isn’t one that could be taken from under me at any given time. Is there any job like that? Not sure.

It’s definitely gotta be The Lotus Flower Champion by Pintip Dunn and Love Dunn. I’ve been waiting for this one for a while now, and I’ve been excited to read it. I’ll have to move it up my list so that I can read it sooner rather than later. It’s also included in my latest Top Ten Tuesday post, and about half of those books I want to try to read in December, but if I don’t, then definitely in January.
Besides the other ones that I mentioned. I may have to try to listen to them or something, if I can’t focus on reading them physically lately. Which is okay, it just sucks sometimes. I miss being able to read physically without getting headaches or losing concentration. Well it’s more like I get headaches and then feel like I need to sleep it off. Not fun.
This is why audiobooks are my saving grace, y’all. They help me to continue my passion for reading. Just gotta put that out there.

And that’s it folks!
How is your reading progress going? Are any of you doing that “Ten Before the End” challenge that I’ve heard about? I think only one or two people told me about it but I don’t really see it going around that much in the bookstagram circles. Which is okay because I know I’m not seeing every single challenge that is happening.
I don’t even know where I would begin for that challenge honestly, and I don’t know when it started so I wouldn’t know if I hit the 10 or not! So I’m just going to keep reading until the end of the year and then start all over again. I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for all of the yearly challenges that I keep signing up for. I swear, I sign myself up for so many of them at the beginning of the year and then I drastically decrease my participation in the middle of January. 2024, I’m going to try to stay consistent with it, just like I did with my journal tracking. I just gotta set aside time every day to do it, and I plan on doing that come January. It’s going to be great, I just know it.
Oh also, I wrote a commentary post on the miscommunication trope based on my most recent read book and I’d love for you to read it and tell me your thoughts. Because I love talking with people about books and tropes and all things bookish.

I hope you’re all having a wonderful day, or a gentle one. Hopefully both. Catch you on the next post.

Whoa is right! You finished a ton of books and some real chonksters in there too. 😍 I hope you enjoyed all if not most of them, Leelynn! This year I’ve accepted that Armentrout is not the author for me. She’s so beloved but her writing just… Doesn’t work and I don’t get all the hype no matter how many books of hers I’ve tried 😂 I was curious about this new one but now I’m kinda like… Eh, maybe it’s a skip! I hope you have a great week ahead 🙂

Dini!! It’s so great to see you ❤ ❤ I did enjoy the majority of them and I'm happy for that. It helps when I have enjoyable experiences in my reads, as I know you know.
I think that's going to be the same case for me with Armentrout. I'm just not the reader that she appeals to, and that's okay. At least we can be in that club together lol.
I hope you have a great week too ❤ Miss you tons.
