Top Ten Tuesday | Things Getting in the Way of Reading

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Happy Tuesday, everyone. I can’t believe it’s pretty much the middle of the year. And today is actually my baby sibling’s birthday! Happy birthday to my little sib, who really isn’t so little anymore.

That photo was us from last year, and I can’t believe they are already 19!!! Not a child anymore, and it is still freaking me out. I can’t wait to see them again soon.

So this week is talking about what’s stopping us from or getting in the way of reading. I’ve been pretty lucky that I’ve been getting some sort of reading in every day this year so far, but I think of a few things:

  1. Headaches/migraines – if I can’t seem to focus on something due to that, then I won’t pick up the book I’m trying to read. This mostly stops me from reading a physical book, and I try to have at least one physical book going at the same time I’m listening to an audiobook.
  2. Too tired: somtimes I end up watching too much Castle after I get home that by the time it’s time to go to bed and I want to try to read a book, I’m about to pass out. Castle is just too addicting clearly. I finally got to the seventh season, farther than I got the first time I watched it.
  3. Not enough time: Sometimes I don’t allocate enough time to sit and read a book. Most of these things stopping me from reading are reading physically, as you can see. Any time I can drive, I’m listening to an audiobook. When I’m laying in bed about to fall asleep, I’m listening to an audiobook.

And oddly enough, that’s all that I can think about right now.
