For fifteen months, the Empire and the northern people have been at war, but a truce is finally at hand. As part of this treaty, Lena, now a Guardswoman on the Wall, is asked to stand as a hostage, to go north to live and learn among the people of Linrathe. But not everyone there will welcome her. As Lena learns more of the history of both her land and the north, a new threat emerges, one that will test her loyalty to its limits, and in the end, demand a price she could not have envisioned.

Again I’m not usually one to continue with series because I’m just not disciplined enough to do that. It helps when I have to finish reading a series because I have to write a review for a blog tour or something like that, so that’s why we are all here. Which works out for both of us because then I can finally finish more series and see what I think about Empire’s Legacy as a whole rather than in pieces.
I’m really glad that I got to see Lena really improve from the first novel, and I feel like she was just really really strong. From the first novel to this one, and seeing how she was able to take everything that she thought she knew growing up in this world, and turn it into something that will make her survive in this change was amazing. In this novel, Lena has to play hostage in the kingdom of Linrathe, and all for the peace treaty that’s happening in the aftermath of the war. I can only imagine how Lena feels having to basically be a prisoner in the enemy territory, and everything else that happened from the first book to this one.
I am so curious to see what ends up happening in the final novel, and hopefully we get to see Lena grow even further into her strength.
