Blog Tour: The Last Atlantian by Mikki Noble | Review

Hey everyone! Again I’m so sorry for the technical difficulties today. It’s been a rough night and day for me, and I totally spaced out on making sure my reviews were in the posts for today. Thank you so much to Xpresso Tours for having me on this tour, for letting me know that “hey, the review isn’t actually up there!” and for being so patient with me today. I really appreciate it, and be sure to click on the banner for the rest of the hosts from this tour.

The Last Atlantian

by Mikki Noble
Release Date: December 13, 2019
Genre: YA Urban Fantasy, Mythology

Goodreads | Amazon

Spencer did not plan to work on her birthday. She didn’t plan a lot of things, but they happened anyway. Like, when she touched a guy and he turned into a gold statue, or when some stranger appeared to tell her she was in danger. She didn’t plan to see her life forever changed by one simple act, and it still happened anyway.

What Spencer doesn’t know is why. Why is all this happening to her? Why does she have the power to turn people into gold all of a sudden. Who is she really?

And why is this cute guy calling her the last Atlantian?

As far back as she can remember, Mikki was creating characters and stories in her head. It wasn’t until fate brushed the tip of its wings over her eyes that she began to see that writing was what she was born to do. She loves animals, reading, everything supernatural related, and enjoys spending her free time on social media whenever she can.

Okay first of all, I love that the main character’s name is Spencer. It gives me PLL vibes, not gonna lie, but I think it matches our girl perfectly in this novel. So I just had to mentioned that before I get started.

Second of all, I thought this was super fun?? Like I don’t know if I was expecting Atlantians like from Atlantis: The Lost Empire (Disney fam, you know what I’m talking about) or something else, but I was really happy with this novel and just had fun having to go through Spencer’s journey when she was NOT expecting any of this to happen. Yes, I know, that’s usually how plots will play out, where our main character is going through life like normal and then something happens that just turns their world upside down. It’s not something new, and it’s not something that would be entirely unique, but for some reason I really liked how it played out in this one. I would have to say it’s because of Noble and how she wrote it to be. It just made me extremely intrigued about Spencer and what exactly she had to deal with throughout this novel when she was least expecting it.

Turning people into gold though reminded me of Midas, which hello there’s the whole Mythology part of the genre, and I thought that was pretty cool. I don’t remember seeing a lot of characters turning people into gold lately, so it was a nice little plot to have. I also loved how Spencer was like “oooh cute guy, why is he calling me the last atlantian randomly” and her thoughts were just so relate-able. I probably would have thought the same thing, especially about the cute guy. Happy Birthday Spencer, you got a cute guy in front of you now and he gets to tell you more about your life than you probably never thought possible.

I hope there’s going to be another one in this series, because I need to know what else is going to happen in Spencer’s life. She can’t just be done.
