Top 10 book covers that had you so spellbound from its beauty that you bought/got them without reading what it was about.
Oh yay! The cover ho in me is so loving this prompt, so let’s get to it, shall we?
Let Rebellion Burn as the tagline too? Freaking give me all of this. The colors and how they blend in to one another was beautiful. The font was gorgeous. The doves was such an awesome touch as well. I love this cover, and this book.
The stark difference between the two halves of the world really got me. And the outer rings that I’m seeing? They look like spikes almost. It looks like this world is in a glass marble and doesn’t even really exist, but it does because there are people dying and just trying to survive in here! Ugh it’s great.
The color scheme on this one is what really got me. I don’t know how to explain it, but it just feels like… magic. I don’t know. I immediately signed up for the blog tour based on the cover alone, and I was so glad that I found the synopsis interesting afterwards AND was accepted to partake in it. It was a win-win.
I was just really into the ocean and the tentacles and all of that on this cover. Like, I wanted to sink into the ocean from here, even though it may be a tidepool and I just have some weird feelings. Also, sorrows? I should have known I was going to be sad by the time this book was over.
I was really impressed with the artwork in the plants on this cover. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any plants like this on a book cover before – or in real life – so I was instantly pulled in. And then seeing that key in the corner, the background of some house wallpaper, and that tagline? “Break free or burn together” totally sounds ominous and I was so into it.
So it was the mask, Mia’s hips for some reason – am I attracted to girls? Sometimes sure – and I thought Mia was going to be Japanese. Why? I’m not really sure, but I would have killed to have a Japanese teenage assassin kicking some major ass like Mia did in this book. Wishful thinking, I guess, but the book was still good. That shadow also really got me.
Nedra’s left hand guys! I was like WHY IS IT DARKER THAN HER OTHER HAND? IS IT A DEAD HAND?! IS IT LIKE DUMBLEDORE’S HAND WHEN HE GOT CURSED BY THE HORCRUX?!??!?! Then of course whoever was the model for Nedra got me like whooooooooo hella gorgeous.
Seeing the rose turn into the swan so subtle-like was freaking… wow. I was already instantly intrigued before I could even guess at what the book was about.
To me, it was the stark contrast between the luxurious feel of the woman in her dress and pearls, and then seeing Cuba the way that it really is, not romanticized like they have it in movies. It doesn’t look decrepit or anything on the cover at all, but knowing that the people of Cuba are suffering, and when there was a big tourism industry in Cuba, they were the ones that lived and played in luxury while the people were starving and just trying to survive the day to day… Yeah. That haunted me.
Maybe I’m just into trees or something. Like really there isn’t much to this cover – not saying that it’s basic or not artistically pleasing because that is completely false – but I was just pulled by the different colors of the leaves. Something so simple as that and it already made me want to know more about it. Plus the title of course.
Phew! I think I was writing this post for like two hours on and off or something, but I’m glad that I finally finished it!
