Thank you again to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words for hosting this weekly meme. I’m pretty sure you all know the drill by now, but in case you don’t and you want to join, here are the three questions we always answer:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you will read next?

So I’m in the middle of two ARCs right now! Look at me actually making progress on my ARCs again! Especially since I’ve been requesting them on Netgalley again and I got auto-approved by one of my favorite publishers recently so now I’m getting a little request crazy again! Ugh this is stressful but I’m slowly getting through them when I can. I think by the time I end up moving and getting settled, I’ll actually have more time to read than I think because I won’t be having to stay up late to be in the same timezone as my office. That’s why during the day I’ll leave it to what I need to do to get ready to move and then take myself out to read without worrying about being at work yet. It really does help, and I haven’t had to take naps as much as before. It’s weird! Although I will say that since I’ve been staying up later, I’ve been waking up slightly later since I don’t have to be up so early right now.

But yes, I’m working both on recent ARCs and backlist ARCs at the same time and I’m really happy with the progress that I’m making with them. And I’m still keeping up with reading diversely – which I honestly feel like I’ve been doing naturally for a few years now so it’s not something that I really need to “keep up with” like I’m falling behind, but also making sure that I’m promoting and talking about diverse books whenever I get the chance to. I don’t know why I felt like I had to say that but I guess I feel like I’m lacking. Never a good sign honestly.

I can say that I’m absolutely loving every book that I’m reading right now and I’m so happy for this.

I’m telling it’s really just because I try to get through books around the same time as one another. So like if I start three books at once, I try to finish those three around the same time. It doesn’t happen all the time of course, but then when a week like this happens, it seems like I read so much but really I just finished books that I started a while ago. I don’t know. Maybe I should just give myself the benefit of the doubt and be proud of how much I’m getting through books. I am so grateful that I’m not going through a slump right now because I think that would wreck me. Books have been my saving grace right now. Well for a while but especially right now. So thank you to all the books that I’ve been reading that have been helping me get through life, learn about myself, and learn how to continue to be a better person all around.

Do you know how tough it is to want to share about books that are written by awesome authors and are awesome stories and then realize that they are published under Wednesday Books and just… well I’m not sharing them. I just won’t. I find myself trying to make sure that I don’t accidentally share books that are published under any SMP imprint so that I don’t cross the picket line on accident.

In addition to those that I listed above, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get through a few of these on my recent library haul post before I have to return them all. Hopefully when I get settled after I move, I can see if those public libraries have these books or I’ll try to do an ILL so I can get to them eventually.

Have you also noticed that for library books, they put the call number sticker right where the publisher logo usually is? So it’s hard to spot it when you’re just browsing, you actually have to open the book to see the publisher information. It’s good practice if you ever get curious about the publishers you’re reading books from.

And there we have it! How has your reading week been so far?

We’re halfway done with the week! Let’s finish it strong and get through the rest of the month.
