Thank you again to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words for hosting this weekly meme. I’m pretty sure you all know the drill by now, but in case you don’t and you want to join, here are the three questions we always answer:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you will read next?

I should be so close to finishing Seaside Sorcery if I can just push through it tonight. Honestly, I think I should have DNF’ed it a while ago because it’s not really holding my attention like I wanted it to. I think the premise could have been great, but I think it needs another round of edits. I know that this one that I’m reading right now was republished after some edits too, but there’s just something missing from it that would make me want to read the next book. I don’t know what it is right now, and maybe if I do end up finishing it, I can articulate it properly.

I’m now trying to read Pachinko again – well completely for the first time – since I started it years ago and never picked it back up. We will see how it goes though. I like it but I think I was going through it either too quickly last time or I wasn’t actually paying attention to it last time so I put it on hold. I’m going to try better this time.

I didn’t think I would actually like The Prison Healer as much as I did, and I want to say the saving grace for it was the very ending. I don’t even think I was aware of that major twist that happened, or that major reveal at the very end of the book, and when I was listening to it on the ride back from Maryland today, I was like WHAAAAAAT?! So that’s what made me want to finish the trilogy sometime this year. I’ve been doing a pretty good job at finishing series this year… or at least making progress since I don’t think I actually finished any series yet but have been close. Mark and I finished the second book in An Ember in the Ashes, and we listened to as much of the third book today as we could on the way up to Maryland. I’ll be pausing that until we are together again to listen to it. It’s the first book / series that we’ve actually read together and it’s been fun talking with him about his theories on what’s going to happen and hearing his reactions to certain parts. I’m glad we found a series that we are both really liking.

Keeping these for now since I haven’t figured out what books I’m going to try to read for March’s challenges. But at least I can still try to read these ones for January and February, even if they are late. As long as I get to them eventually, that’s what matters to me.
