Top 5 Saturday: Road Trips

Top 5 Saturday: Road Trips

Wow, sorry this is super late. I was trying to get through Gone (which I did end up finishing a few minutes ago) and before I write that review, I remembered that I had to do this, so here it is! Sorry it’s late again. I appreciate you all being patient with me while I go through the biggest reading hangover ever.

Thanks again to Mandy @ Devouring Books for hosting this and coming up with the fun topics. If you have any topics that you want to see next, let her know!

So this one is going to be pretty hard for me only because I don’t really think a lot of the books that I’ve read deal with road trips, but I’m definitely going to try! Stay tuned.

So Mia, Mr. Kindly, and Tric have to go through a road trip of some sorts in order to reach the Red Church, so that totally counts right? It counts.

This one totally has a road trip through the countryside of Ireland and it’s totally interesting. I don’t think the majority of this group realized that they were going on a trip, but it was super fun. I loved this book a lot.

Theodora and Huck travel through Eastern Europe to find her father who seems to have gone missing finding the ring of Dracula. Trust me, it was such a fun ride, that it made me want to go to Romania ASAP.

Falin and his group of Champions have to travel though Elsana up to the Wildbarrens in order to find the gems that Falin needs to become a full fledged Wizard. They leave the comfort of their homes to go on this quest, and they run into a lot of trouble on the way.

A road trip to find her sister’s killer. It doesn’t get any better than this. Although I hate that I don’t know what happened to her. I hope that she’s okay somewhere out there.

Sometimes road trips can totally count when they aren’t the super fun kind. That’s the way that I had to look at this prompt because I don’t really read a lot of contemporaries that deal with fun road trips about discovering yourself or just going on a trip. I can’t wait to see what’s on everyone’s list because maybe I need to make an effort to read more road trip books!

    1. Ah let me know if you like it! I personally loved it, but I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea (which I definitely expect because we can’t all love the same books!) I personally loved the audiobook and felt like it made my experience with the book way better. I can’t wait to hear what your group thought about it!

  1. I like your list – it’s a fun category, although I think it would take some work for me to think of books I know that fit. All the Bad Apples sounds like a book I’d like and now I’m intrigued by Sadie. I feel like I’ve seen that book on other blogs. Happy weekend!

    1. I love the Courtney Summers books that I’ve read but I still need to read Sadie. I also love the sound of The Lady Rogue and can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of it!! Like you I think if I made a roadtrip list it would mostly end up being about less fun journeys. Most would probably be dystopians actually as those are the trip ones they immediately come to mind.

  2. No worries about being late! Just happy that you joined! I was hoping that someone might include quest like fantasies! The Lady Rogue definitely has a road trip in it, but I wound up not being a huge fan of that one, I hope you enjoy it more than I did. So did Sadie and I loved that one SOOOO much. I actually want to do a reread and listen to the audio. The rest of the books on this list are on my TBR, with Nevernight being close to the top.

    1. Oh thank gosh I included quests then because those are mostly the books that I seem to gravitate towards! Oh man I’m sorry you didn’t like The Lady Rogue. It was one of my favorites this year, but not my all time favorite. I was a fan of Theo.

I hope you end up liking Nevernight! I recommend listening to the audiobook so the footnotes don’t slow you down.

      1. I love questy books. One of my favorites is Kill the Farm Boy. Yeah… The Lady Rogue just wasn’t for me. I liked Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett though! As for Nevernight, it might be a while until I get to it, but I might pick up the audio then!

  3. Ooh yes, that’s right about Nevernight! They totally took a ‘road trip’ to find the Red Church. Oh gosh, I’m still not over that book and want to read it all over again right now 😂 lol this is a great list Leelynn! You’ve got me excited for All the Bad Apples too 😍
